" Madame Pommery, who wants to produce a different wine, decides to relocate to a different place which combines the optimal conditions for production. In July 1868 she launches the "construction site of the century" in Reims: the metamorphosis of the crayères chalkpits into cellars. "
The house was founded as Pommery & Greno in 1858 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno. Under the guidance of Alexandre’s widow, Louise Pommery, the firm was dedicated to Champagne production and soon became one of the region’s largest Champagne brands. Pommery was the seventh best-selling champagne brand worldwide
